Young and very talented Derek has been painting for as long as he can remember. The need for painting came to him unexpectedly at a very young age. When asked about it he smiles and his eyes sparkle. 'The moment I was able to hold a pencil is the moment I started drawing', he says, and you can only imagine a 4 years old boy playing with colors and not even realising that this is the one gift that will shape his entire life.

Derek paints from passion. He is driven by it and is constantly looking to express his need for beauty. Each one of his paintings tells a story, reveals a feeling, and they're mostly about love. Not just love for another human being or for breathtaking landscapes, but a more complex emotion that compels him to use pigments, lines and colors to express a deep ardour for the art of painting in general.
